What a small business website costs
A website's price is a few separate costs. Quotes and plans bundle them differently, which is why two prices for "a website" are rarely the same thing.
The costs that add up
- The domain name
- The address people type, such as yourbusiness.com.au. It is registered through a registrar and renewed on a schedule.
- Hosting
- The computer that serves the pages. A website builder includes it in its plan.
- The build
- Whoever lays out and writes the site: you, a builder's templates, or a designer you pay.
- Changes afterwards
- New photos, new hours, a new service. Ask whether each change is yours to make or a charge from someone else.
How two common builders describe their plans
Each line is read from the builder's own pricing page, linked under it, on the date shown. Plans change, so check the page before you decide.
